NIE
If you are going to work in Spain buying a property, go to work, start a business or otherwise become involved with the country, you will need an NIE. An NIE is the ¨Número de Identidad de Extranjero¨ and is similar to a Dutch BSN number. It is an identification number for non-Hispanics.
There are a number of ways you can obtain the NIE. You can apply for the NIE from the Netherlands at the Spanish consulate in Amsterdam. To do so, you must make a prior appointment and bring a number of documents, as well as pay an administration fee. There is usually a fairly long wait to get an appointment and sometimes, due to crowds, this is not possible at all.
If you need an identification number at short notice, the attorneys at Gimbrere Legal can assist you. In fact, we can apply for an NIE for you from Spain. The waiting time for this is about two weeks, but again this depends on how busy it is.
To apply for an NIE, we charge a flat fee of 400 euros excluding VAT per NIE. In fairness, we must say that there are cheaper providers on the Internet, but at Gimbrere Legal, you do get the personal attention and care. This way, you can be sure that the process will go well. For example, it should always be discussed exactly which NIE you need and what you need it for. Should this not be done, you run the risk of applying for the wrong NIE.
If you engage with Gimbrere Legal, we will need the following information from you:
– Copy of ID
– Reason for requesting the Número de Identidad de Extranjero
– Residential address
Then, in consultation with a lawyer from Gimbrere Legal, a power of attorney will be drawn up, which you must have signed yourself in the Netherlands at a notary of your choice. You can then send this document to our headquarters in Breda, after which the application process for a Número de Identidad de Extranjero will be initiated.
